Lorde on Iggy Azalea's Nirvana criticism: "I had a good time. That's all that mattered"

Lorde has responded to comments made by Iggy Azalea criticising her for performing alongside Nirvana.

Speaking about Lorde singing with Nirvana as a tribute to their late front man Kurt Cobain to mark their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Iggy said:

“Nothing against her, but I think when you're doing a tribute to someone that's dead, generally it should be the person's peer. Lorde is not Kurt Cobain's peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don't think it's appropriate.”

The ‘Royals’ star has now given her reply during an interview with Confidential.

Lorde said: “I enjoyed it. I had a good time. That's all that mattered. I've been in a position where I've said something in an interview where I've thought, 'Damn, I wish I could take that back.'”

She added: “I don’t know how [Iggy] is feeling about it. But anyone who’s doing well deserves respect, and I respect what she’s doing.”

Azalea herself has played down rumours that her comments were indicative of a rift between herself and the New Zealand songstress as she previously wrote on Twitter:

“Lol I have a feud with Lorde now? I Don't think so she's my southern hemispheric soul sister. Keep reaching world.”
