Lorde: 'I like to get clothes and furniture from other people's rubbish'

'Royals' hitmaker Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, has revealed that she really likes to go through people's rubbish and find clothing or furniture that she can use in her own way

During a new interview with Stella magazine, the songstress explained that she loves trawling through things people have thrown away because you can find some really interesting and unusual items:

"My favourite thing to do is trawl the inorganics... It stays on the street for a few days and then it's collected and put into a landfill somewhere. But people drive around and go through other people's household rubbish. And, honestly, I've gotten amazing furniture, shoes, hats, jackets. I did this three weeks ago! Recognised every single time. So embarrassing!"

Speaking to Fader recently, the star opened up about her stage name and confessed that the persona of Lorde and her real self are finally becoming one as she grows more confident in who she is:

"I think that when I gave that interview, my way of being Lorde was, like, I would walk onstage and a wall of terror would go up for that 45 minutes. I'd be in complete fear, and when I got offstage, it'd be like I'd awoken from a dream. That was my way of being around people and showing them what I could do. I guess I'm more confident in myself and the work I'm making. I think that I'm Ella most of the time, but Ella is Lorde now. Right?"
