Lorde donates generous sum to New Zealand children's charity

Dalton's Gym Charitable Trust set up a fundraising page for its Fuel The Need campaign back in February and songstress Lorde made a $14,000 donation towards it after seeing that it was struggling to make the target.

She made the donation under her real name, Ella Yelich-O'Connor, and accompanied it with the following message: "Good on you Manuel and Fuel the Need - hope this helps a little bit. Lots of love from a former kid who is passionate about all kids having access to food at school."

Newshub.co.nz quoted organiser Manuel Dalton as saying: "To date we'd raised around $1400, so when (Lorde's payment) came through, it was absolutely amazing. It's allowed us to get all the balls rolling that we had waiting in the background."

He added: "This is the start point. We need consistent and continued contributions to allow us to feed these kids, to give them the energy they need to complete their school day."
