Lorde: 'I look like Gollum when I perform'

'Royals' songstress Lorde has revealed that she tries not to think about how she looks on stage when she's performing because it can be really off-putting to be preoccupied with the superficial side of being an artist.

She told Reddit during a fan-led question and answer session that she thinks she looks a little like 'Lord of the Rings' character Gollum when she's singing, so tries instead to just focus on how her voice is sounding when she's in front of an audience:

"I know when I'm on stage, I don't think about how it looks, I just concentrate on really feeling what I hear."

"But I totally know I look like Gollum when I perform, so it's cool."

Lorde added that going into the music industry at such a young age has been a blessing in disguise because she is at the point where nothing intimidates her:

"I feel like I learnt early on how things worked and that gave me a good understanding of what could be f**ked with/which rules were dumb and shouldn't have to be followed. [sic] Plus, I can sit down with basically the most intimidating people in the industry and not flinch. And maybe even make them flinch. Or cry. Heh. [sic]."
