Lorde: 'When people call me a 'hottie' I want to throw up'

New Zealand based songstress Lorde has confessed that the nicknames given to her by the press often make her cringe, but there's one in particular that she really doesn't like.

During a new interview with The New York Times, the 'Royals' beauty explained that she hates being described as a "hottie" although she's fond of being described as a "pop princess":

"The phrase 'teen hottie' literally makes me want to throw up. I'm a pop princess at heart. Pop is about distilling what you want to say and making it easy. And the way I write isn't about making things easy. It's a weird juxtaposition."

She also opened up about how she deals with the topic of love in songwriting and added that she is yet to discover a way to introduce the subject that feels 'new': "Some people love writing about that, and that's fine. But I personally haven't found a way to do it yet which is innovative and feels new to me."
