Steve Aoki jumps to Louis Tomlinson's defence over airport altercation

DJ Steve Aoki has leapt to Louis Tomlinson's defence after the One Direction star was arrested at Los Angeles airport by a photographer who had allegedly attacked him.

Louis Tomlinson had tried to prevent a paparazzi from taking photos of him and his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, at Los Angeles airport. Tomlinson accidentally tripped as he was trying to run towards Calder who had been cornered by three girls. When he tripped he took the photographer down with him. It was only when the girls started screaming at Calder that airport security stepped in (see video below).

Aoki tweeted: "Wish the paparazzi respected personal space. U can still do your job without having to put your camera literally in someone's face."

Tomlinson was bailed yesterday after the citizen's arrest. The photographer was also arrested.

Tomlinson will have to appear in court on March 29.

Tomlinson’s lawyer Martin Singer released a statement on his behalf. He said: "The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis at the airport this morning.

"This is not the first or last time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity.

"While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defence, causing airport security to intervene."

Tomlinson lost his mother to cancer last December and has since rekindled his romance with Calder who he was with initially for around four years.
