Louis Tomlinson on 'Back To You' being censored for radio

Louis Tomlinson has weighed in on the radio censorship his second solo single, 'Back To You' received.

The British singer collaborated with US pop star Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals on the track, which was released last month on July 21.

The song is about a toxic relationship and includes the lyrics:

"Whoa, you stress me out, you kill me / You drag me down, you f**k me up / We're on the ground, we're screaming / I don't know how to make it stop / I love it, I hate it, and I can't take it / But I keep on coming back to you.

"And I guess you'll never know / All the bulls**t that you put me through."

However, the versions on the radio have been censored, with the inappropriate words being changed. Weighing in on the lyrics being altered for censorship purposes, Tomlinson said:

"Honestly this is f**king stupid.

"Get that some radios need to blank it but making up new lyrics is daft."

Tomlinson and Rexha performed the track for the first time on the Teen Choice Awards 2017 in Los Angeles last month.

Tomlinson has also revealed that he finds it easier to be a solo artist than part of One Direction.

The star was the first member of the band to release a solo single, which he did with Steve Aoki'Just Hold On' was released in December 2016 and reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart and No. 52 in the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

He says that he is loving being "in control" and getting to make choices for himself now he is on his own because he would always have to compromise with his bandmates. He said:

"It's easier because from a writing perspective or even a marketing perspective or anything like that. We'd all have to be on the same page which takes a bit of working out before we get there.

"So it's nice to be kind of in control of my destiny completely and there's more pressure obviously but again it makes me feel like I can be open."

Tomlinson is gearing up for the release of his debut solo album and said fans can expect some real "honest" and "vulnerable" songs on his new record.
