Artist & Manager Awards to honour Zita McQ and The 1975 on 24 November

The board of the MMF and FAC  are delighted to announce that this year’s recipient of the Writer Producer Manager award is Zita McQ and the Artist of the Year will be The 1975 at this years’ Artist & Manager Awards, supported by DICE.

Zita McHugh aka Zita Wadwa-McQ is one of the most successful producer/mixer/writer managers in the music industry today. Having set up a joint venture management company with Pete Tong and Roger Ames whilst at London Records, Zita went on to found Z Management 20 years ago.

Z and it’s clients have been responsible for countless Number 1s, top 10s and platinum selling albums including releases from the likes of The Verve, Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Sons, Kylie Minogue, Texas, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Keane and many more.

Z management prides itself on its transparent, artist-friendly work ethic. Zita said, on her award, “"I am thrilled to receive this award although it came as a total surprise! As I always say, we are only as good as the clients we represent, so this award is for all of us - myself, the Z staff and all the clients. It's a tough industry out there and we pride ourselves on quality work and quality clients. Management isn't about getting your own way, it's about helping others find theirs and the bonus being a few hits along the way! It helps that we continue to love what we do. I am very proud after all these years to receive this award. Thank you so much!"”

Matthew Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald and George Daniel began playing together as teenagers in 2002 whilst at school. Named The 1975 they began covering punk songs at underage gigs before venturing to write their own material.

The alternative rock pop band has been building a huge fan base since the release of their second EP, Sex in 2012. Their momentum continued to increase with “Chocolate,” the first single from their self-titled debut album. Today, The 1975 have over four and a half million listeners on Spotify following the release of their second album in February of this year.

I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It went to number one in the UK and US and was described by Drowned in Sound as “a bold body of work that sounds effortless and odd and sophisticated. What they do next is likely to be stadium-filling and bonkers and brilliant, but it matters little when what they're doing now is so sensational.

The Artist and Manager Awards will take place at the Troxy on Thursday 24th November 2016 and will again be sponsored by DICE.
