The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with a very special Diamond certification today. 

Their song 'Thrift Shop' achieved the incredible feat and the RIAA shared the following tweet along with a photograph (pictured left) to announce the news:

"@Macklemore & @RyanLewis honoured by RIAA as 1 of 2 hip hop acts EVER to earn a #Diamond song #ThriftShop + @TeeWanz."

Earlier this month, the rapper opened up about his nude painting of Justin Bieber that hangs in his recording studio and told TMZ why it's there: "It's an investment piece. I think that that painting is going to be worth a lot of money. I search eBay and Etsy for fine pieces of art. It cost me about $20, I'm pretty sure that the minute that the Justin Bieber album went No. 1, I'm pretty sure that painting went to about $30, $33. Do the math, man."
