Marina and the Diamonds star Marina Diamandis has revealed her admiration for fellow female popster Katy Perry after going out on tour with her.

The singer admitted that Perry's work ethic is similar to her own and that they have both fought similar battles to get where they are in the music business.

Speaking to Stylist, she also said that she learnt a lot from from the US superstar whilst out on the road. She said:

"I think I relate to Katy because she fought really hard to get where she is right now."

"I chose to do the tour with her because I wanted to analyse everything. The production was amazing - it's one of the biggest tours in the world right now - and I learnt a lot from her."

She is however now nonplussed at any comparisons to other female singers that are thrown her way. She added:

"I don't care anymore about the comparisons but I used to. As a female singer starting out, you'll always be grouped with other women. But once you've established your name as an individual, it doesn't happen."
