Maroon 5's 'Payphone' continues to top UK streaming chart

Maroon 5's 'Payphone' has spent another week at the top of the UK streaming chart.

The US band's song has proved a hit in Britain and it seems users of music streaming websites and programs such as Spotify and Napster have been lapping it up.

The chart, which is compiled by the Official Charts Company, sees Flo Rida's 'Whistle' land at No.2 whilst fun.'s 'We Are Young' takes this week's bronze medal.

At No.4 on the streaming chart, which was released today (July 23), is Carly Rae Jepsen's monster hit 'Call Me Maybe'.

Maroon 5 meanwhile picked up a gong at last night's (July 22) Teen Choice Awards, reigning supreme in the break-up song category with 'Payphone'.

Maroon 5 on 'Moves Like Jagger': 'Chris Martin said he hated it'

'Payphone' hitmakers Maroon 5 have opened up about their popular hit 'Moves Like Jagger' and described it as "an inch away on any side from being a disaster".

In an interview with Britain's The Guardian newspaper, frontman Adam Levine explained that they were uncertain of how the song would be received and it felt like a gamble to release it:

"It's a very delicate song, you're treading so many lines and so many tightropes that I truly believe it's an inch away on any side from being a disaster."

When the interviewer explained that his wife initially disliked the track, but found it grew on her after several listens, Levine agreed and admitted that Coldplay's singer had the same reaction:

"Yeah! Chris Martin said the same thing. He told me: "I fucking hated that song." It had that effect. Even on us!"

He was also asked about his credibility at school and revealed that he once threw a party that caused him to be grounded for an entire summer:

"One summer I got grounded for throwing a party on the roof of our apartment. As a punishment I had to work in my dad's warehouse all summer ticketing shoulder pads."

"It was awful. Throwing your first illegal party is far more stressful than you think. I would not recommend it. All you kids out there that want to break the rules – break them some other way. Throwing a party? It's just not worth it."

Maroon 5 are 'more focused' than ever and are putting their energy into new music

'Payphone' soft-rockers Maroon 5 have revealed that their next goal is to work on some brand new music.

The American superstars have enjoyed great success with their new album 'Overexposed', which was confirmed at No.2 during this week's (July 4) midweek chart update, and member James Valentine told Billboard.com that they want to use their momentum to create new songs:

"I think we're more focused than we've ever been, and all we really are interested in doing now is working on music. Usually we'd be on tour and have fun and come back home and use that time to make a record."

"Now I think we're just at a point where we feel like there's more music in us than that. We're working on a lot of stuff. I think the next recording's going to be ready a lot sooner than our previous records."

Their latest single 'Payphone' moved back up to No.1 on the UK Top 40 on Wednesday although its new position will be confirmed this coming Sunday, July 8.
