Maroon 5 have been added to the line-up for this year's MTV VMAs.

The US act will perform a new song at the showbiz ceremony, which is taking place in Los Angeles on August 24.

Singer Adam Levine commented: "We are so excited about our upcoming new album and to be part of the great VMA lineup this year. It is our first time doing the show and we are thrilled to be on it performing our new single."

Maroon 5 are due to release their new album 'V' on September 1 in the UK.

Other acts scheduled to perform at the VMAs are 5 Seconds of Summer, Ariana Grande and Usher.
