McBusted want Charlie Simpson to join the band

McBusted have admitted that they would love Charlie Simpson to join the crew.

The pop rock supergroup formed last year as a hybrid of Busted and McFly - but the former's estranged singer Charlie Simpson declined to take part.

The musician has been working on his own rock projects since leaving the group in the mid-2000s, but Busted's James Bourne has invited him into McBusted.

He told the Jonathan Ross show: "I understand why he left. When people say he didn't have a great time, that's not true. He was in the band for two years and the first year he was in the band he had an amazing time, and I know that because I was there. But there came to a point where I felt he felt like he wasn't releasing the music that he was creating on his own.

"It was about him releasing the music he wanted to release. Some of my favourite songs that we released were written, he and I, but as a whole the singles we were releasing weren't his cup of tea.

"I think McBusted works like this, but we all like Charlie, we don't have a problem with Charlie and I think we'd like him to come back. It's up to him."

McBusted meanwhile are due to perform a slew of arena shows this summer in the UK.
