McBusted don't think Westlife and Boyzone supergroup would work

McBusted don't believe a supergroup featuring members of Westlife and Boyzone would work as well as they have.

The band formed last year by bringing together McFly and Busted's Matt Willis and James Bourne and they are currently touring the UK.

A quote from Boyzone recently suggested that they were thinking of also forming a supergroup with fellow Irishmen Westlife.

However, McBusted told the Daily Star that they think the two Irish groups would find it hard to replicate their chemistry.

Tom Fletcher said: "I heard Boyzone and Westlife are rumoured to be doing something similar to us. The thing is, I'm not sure if it would work as well for other bands. Good luck to anyone wanting to form a supergroup, but it probably won't be as easy and natural as it was for us.

"McFly and Busted go way back. I was in Busted for a while before McFly, plus Harry and Charlie [Simpson, from Busted] went to school together and I went to school with Matt. James has written most of McFly's hits. So the lines between the two bands have always been blurred. For us to merge seemed the natural thing to do."

Westlife's Nicky Byrne has since given his thoughts on the idea by tweeting a link to this article and adding:

"He's right, it wouldn't."
