McBusted won't copy current trends on album

McBusted man Tom Fletcher has reassured fans that the band won't "chase" current trends when they record their first album.

The group, who are comprised of McFly and Busted's James Bourne and Matt Willis, are expected to make an album after performing live together this year.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Fletcher said that they won't be looking to emulate newer music on the record, saying:

"I think it's always a mistake if you try and chase what is current. If we started writing now, then by the time it's released it doesn't matter. We're very proud of the fact that the songs we play now still feel as fresh as they did ten years ago when they were released."

"I feel like they've aged quite well. I don't really know how we did that, but I think we'd like to do that more."

Speaking meanwhile about how McFly put their own sessions on hold to focus on McBusted, Fletcher added:

"It just didn't feel right to release it because we felt all of our energy was going into McBusted. We didn't want to confuse it, so we thought we'd just pop that on hold. A lot of the songs we wrote with James [Bourne], so they're almost McBusted songs anyway."
