McFly's Harry Judd and wife Izzy used IVF treatment for baby

McFly drummer Harry Judd says his wife Izzy used IVF treatment to conceive their forthcoming first child.

The musician revealed earlier this year and the couple were expecting a baby.

Speaking in a new interview with Hello!, the pair said that Izzy has polycystic ovary syndrome and struggles to conceive.

The couple resorted to IVF treatment in their attempts to start a family, but Izzy miscarried at the end of 2014.

Speaking about their tragic setback, which happened seven weeks into the pregnancy, Judd said:

"We felt like it would be fine. But then it happened. We were already planning our whole life ahead of us. We thought, 'This is it. Finally it's happened.' It had been a lovely time, knowing Izzy was pregnant.

"I felt awful but I just wanted to be brave for her. We drove to the doctors and he did a scan and that was terrible to hear him say, 'There's nothing there'."

However, the pair took a break from treatment before resuming it again - and they're expecting a baby to arrive in January.
