McFly's Harry: 'I'd love to start a fitness revolution'

Singer Harry Judd has opened up about being on Strictly Come Dancing and confessed that he initially didn't realise it was such a serious competition.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Judd explained that he first said he would do it if fellow McFly member Dougie Poynter could be his partner:

“I didn’t really know much about Strictly at the time and I said, ‘I tell you what, I’ll do it if I can partner up with Dougie’. He was going to be the female. We started practising in our soundcheck. We said, ‘We’ll do it like this, it will be really funny’. We didn’t realise at the time that it was a serious show. I said, ‘Just pitch this to them, it will be me and Doug, we will be Strictly’s first man-on-man couple’. They said no. Then I realised it was a credible, serious dance show.”

Judd went onto add that he turned down the offer to be involved in a fitness DVD project, but would be interested in fronting some kind of fitness revolution:

“Doing a fitness DVD doesn’t really excite me so I had to think what would actually interest me. In my ideal world I would love to start a fitness revolution where I can inspire people who have never exercised before to get them moving and see the benefits.”
