McFly and Busted on their new supergroup: 'It blindsided us, but we're so excited'

Earlier this morning at London's Soho Hotel, Pressparty joined the members of McFly along with Busted's Matt Willis and James Bourne, as they announced that they have come together to form a supergroup and will tour throughout April and May next year in the UK.

Their run of dates is due to begin in Glasgow on April 18 and will come to and end on May 9 in Manchester, but the guys confessed that they're unsure if this exciting new project will just be restricted to a tour as they're open to maybe recording if they create some great material while travelling together.

McFly frontman Tom Fletcher told press: "For now, it's just the tour. If we come up with songs that are incredible of course we'd release them, but for now it is just the tour."

Fletcher added that the prospect of having 6 members and multiple guitars and bassists on stage was daunting at first, but they think it'll work well: "We didn't know how it was going to work until we did the Royal Albert Hall (10th anniversary performances with the Busted stars). There were always blurred lines between McFly and Busted, but now the lines are even more blurred."

The hitmakers also addressed Busted's Charlie Simpson's decision not to return for the supergroup and James Bourne explained there's no tension there, but Simpson simply wasn't interested in performing his former band's songs live again:

"We've hung out and went round his house for the first time a year and a half ago. He's not ready to do this yet, we don't know if he will although we're all actually good friends."
