Charlie Simpson: 'I wish McBusted all the very best'

Former Busted mainman Charlie Simpson has wished his bandmates well ahead of a supergroup formation with McFly.

As previously reported, the two groups announced today (November 11) that they are teaming up for a UK tour in April and May. They will also perform at BBC's Children In Need on Friday (November 15).

However, Simpson - who left Busted to form alt-rock group Fightstar - won't be part of McBusted, with some suggesting that there might have been sour grapes at play.

However, he took to Twitter to wish his former bandmates good luck. Simpson said: "Just wanted to say that though I am not joining @mattjwillis and @JamesBourne on their new venture, I wish them all the very best with it!"

At today's press conference, Busted's James Bourne said that he and Matt Willis are on good terms with Simpson, saying:

"We've hung out and went round his house for the first time a year and a half ago. He's not ready to do this yet, we don't know if he will although we're all actually good friends."

McBusted were originally conceived earlier this year during McFly's 10th anniversary celebrations, where they played three songs together at London's Royal Albert Hall.

They ran through Busted's 'Year 3000' and 'Air Hostess', as well as McFly's 'Shine A Light'.
