YOKO ONO LIVE IN LONDONYoko Ono played two incredible shows in London over the weekend, both at Cafe OTO in Dalston. Ono delivered scorching improvised sets with Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth to the obvious delight of the audience, many of whom couldn’t believe they had got a ticket for this intimate venue. Coming to London after the opening of her career retrospective Half-A-Wind Show at the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Ono played the two spontaneous gigs at the East London club, renowned for adventurous live music. The trio improvised to a screening of Ono films, including Match / Flux Film No. 1 [1966] and Fly [1971] and performed several classic Ono songs including "Why", "Rising" and "Don't Worry Kyoko."
Ono will be performing once more at Cafe OTO, tomorrow night with Nels Cline and Talvin Singh. Once again this show is sold-out. http://www.cafeoto.co.uk/yoko-ono-thurston-moore-steve-shelley-talvin-singh-nels-cline.shtm Ono's Half-A-Wind Show at the Bilbao, Guggenheim runs until September 1, 2014. http://yokoono.guggenheim-bilbao.es/en/ In December, Chimera Music released a hand-painted 3-lp vinyl box of YokoKimThurston, the 2011 album by Ono, Moore and Kim Gordon. http://chimeramusic.info/YKTLP/index.html
