NIKON PRESENTS THE VO5 NME AWARDS 2017 NOMINATIONS PARTY / JAN 12 AT OMEARA, LONDON

BIFFY CLYRO WILL PLAY A VERY SPECIAL ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE ON THE NIGHT

Nikon Presents the VO5 NME Awards Nominations Party on January 12 at London’s Omeara, with a very special acoustic performance by the legendary Biffy Clyro. Fans can cast their votes now for who they would like to see win at the Awards. The acts shortlisted for each category will be revealed at the party on January 12.

Biffy Clyro’s seventh album, ‘Ellipsis,’ released in July this year went straight to number one in the UK charts. Since releasing ‘Ellipsis’ the band have been touring arenas across Europe and the UK playing to sold out crowds in every city. The VO5 NME Awards 2017 Nominations Party at Omeara will see the band play a special acoustic set at the intimate venue, performing tracks from the new album as well as classic fan favourites.

Nikon will be capturing fully immersive 360 footage of the Nominations Party for all the fans who couldn’t be there on the night, details on how to access this footage will be announced on NME.COM in due course. There will be opportunities for fans to win tickets to the invite only party through NME.COM as well as through a special fan ballot via TEAM BIFFY.

Biffy Clyro said: 'We're so thrilled and honoured to be kicking off our year with an acoustic set at the NME Awards Nominations Party. It might get wild!'

The VO5 NME Awards 2017 with the UK’s no. one styling brand*, VO5, will take place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on February 15, 2017. The most rock ‘n’ roll night in the music calendar is set to host a who’s who of music and film, all coming together to celebrate the very best moments of the past 12 months.

Last year saw over 800,000 votes cast in the lead-up to the awards, with Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Dave Grohl and The Libertines all winning a gong.

Mike Williams, NME editor-in-chief, says: “NME readers have been voting in their droves for the VO5 NME Awards 2017, and we’re hugely excited to be able to announce the nominees in each category on January 12. We decided such a momentous announcement deserves a party, and the brilliant Biffy Clyro – who are playing a special acoustic performance – will make sure it’s a night to remember. This is a band who’ve spent 2016 releasing career-best album ‘Ellipsis', headlining festivals and thrilling arenas with a stunning new show that’s as high-tech and high octane as they come. To say we’re humbled to have them return to a tiny venue for Nikon Presents The VO5 NME Awards Nominations Party is an understatement. Mon the Biff!”
