Mumford & Sons' 'Wilder Mind' clings to UK No.1 chart position

Hitmakers Mumford & Sons are holding fast to their No.1 position on the UK Top 40 albums chart as it was confirmed this afternoon (May 13) in midweek update that the band are still in the coveted top spot with their new offering, 'Wilder Mind'.

The band's new album is currently outselling its nearest rival, which is Hozier’s self-titled debut (No.2), by over 8,000 copies at this midway point. Taylor Swift’s '1989' has climbed five places to sit at No.3 and it's followed by Sam Smith’s 'In The Lonely Hour', which is down one place to 4.

Iconic musician Eric Clapton rounds out today’s Top 5 with his new Best Of compilation, 'Forever Man'. At the time of writing, the album is on track to become this week’s highest new entry.

Elsewhere on the UK Top 40, singer-songwriter Tove Lo is on course to enter the Top 10 this weekend with her debut album 'Queen Of The Clouds' at No.10, while Roisin Murphy is heading for a second Top 20 with 'Hairless Toys' (14).
