Mumford & Sons remain at the top of the UK album chart

Mumford & Sons have managed to maintain their hold over the UK album chart for a second week.

The British folk-rock band’s ‘Wilder Mind’ LP is spending a second consecutive week at No. 1 – the first album to do so this year.

‘Wilder Mind’ has held on to the top spot by outselling its nearest competitor by 2:1, which is Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’, up one to No. 2.

Hozier’s self-titled album is up three to No. 3, Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ is up four to No. 4, and Paul Simon’s ‘The Ultimate Collection’ is up two to No. 5.

The highest new entry to this week’s album chart is Eric Clapton’s ‘Forever Man’ compilation at No. 8.

Further new entries come from Tove Lo at No. 17 with ‘Queen of the Clouds’, Leonard Cohen at No. 18 with ‘Can’t Forget – A Souvenir of the Grand’, Roisin Murphy’s ‘Hairless Toys’ at No. 19, ‘Bush’ by Snoop Dogg at No. 25, Nathan Carter’s chart debut with ‘Beautiful Life’ at No. 34, Andre Rieu & His Johann Strauss Orchestra’s ‘Magic Of The Violin’ at No. 36, and  Thea Gilmore’s ‘Ghosts & Graffiti’ at No. 39.
