Mumford & Sons on course for huge UK No.1 with new album 'Babel'

Folk-rockers Mumford & Sons are on course to land their very first UK No.1 album this weekend with their new offering, 'Babel'.

The record has shot straight in at the top spot in today's midweek chart update and according to the Official Charts Company, it's also set to be one of the fastest-selling albums of the year as it has already shifted a staggering 89,000 copies.

The Killers' 'Battle Born' has been forced down 2 positions to No.3 to make way for Green Day's new cut, 'Uno', which has debuted as the highest new entry today (September 26) at No.2.

No Doubt's long-awaited comeback album 'Push and Shove' has made a respectable appearance at No.13, deadmau5's 'Album Title Goes Here' is another new entry at No.6, and Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' has climbed an impressive 11 places to No.22 after her gig at London's iTunes Festival last night.

Meanwhile, Michael Jackson's 'Bad' has dropped a hefty 32 positions to No.38 and One Direction's debut album, 'Up All Night', is down 7 to No.33.
