Mumford and Sons say Olympic Park gig “sh*tloads better” than Glastonbury

Mumford and Sons headlined a one-day festival last night in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, nearly one week after closing out Glastonbury Festival.

But despite the magnitude of the occasion, the band said that wrapping up Worthy Farm couldn’t hold a candle to playing the Olympic Park.

"Were any of you lot at Glastonbury last weekend? It was a very pleasant experience... [but] you guys are shit loads better than that gig ever was," said keyboard player Ben Lovett.

Banjo player Winston Marshall added: "Probably because you haven't done as many drugs as the people there."

The one-day festival also featured sets from Vampire Weekend, Ben Howard, Haim, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Bear's Den. Marshall went on to say: "I think this has been one of my favourite days of my whole life, hands down, no questions asked... Partially down to the bands that played today... and thanks to you 60,000 beautiful London people. We're so grateful to all of you."
