Noel Gallagher says he turns up to Ivor Novello Awards ceremonies because the likes of One Direction stay clear from them.

The annual awards took place on Thursday (May 16) as the UK music industry paid tribute to its best songwriters, with the likes of Emeli Sandé and Calvin Harris picking up gongs.

Gallagher collected the Outstanding Song Collection prize at the ceremony and The Sun reports that he was asked why he attends the Novellos, to which he replied:

"There aren't any clowns like One Direction here. It's not about what clothes you wear or how nimble you are or who you are s******g. It's about the songs. Songs last forever. You can have that lyric."

When picking up his award, Gallagher said: "When we bought a house in London I told my wife I wanted to convert the garage to a creative space. She said, 'What for?' I said, 'To write songs'. She said, 'I've never seen you write a song'. So this is for her."

Noel Gallagher turns down X Factor role

Noel Gallagher has revealed that keeps turning down a job as an X Factor judge because he doesn't want to be on TV every weekend.

The former Oasis man has regularly been linked to a role on the show but nothing has materialised.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the Mancunian revealed that he has again been offered the chance to become a judge on the UK show - something that he declined. Gallagher said:

"Yes, I was asked to do it again. I think they think that because my tour's finished I'm going to be bored, but I'm never going to be that bored. Sharon Osbourne gets £1.5 million for it, I've heard. If she's worth one and a half, what am I worth? Three? Three and three quarters? I've not got anything against the show, I just don't want to be on the telly every Saturday night. F**k that."

He added: "You may be aware, I've got a slight case of Tourette's syndrome and I would just end up saying to Louis Walsh, 'Will you shut up, you c**t!'."

The current line-up for the UK X Factor is Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa.

Noel Gallahger’s daughter has just been unveiled as the star of PETA’s new advert.

13-year-old Anais Gallagher is Noel’s daughter with ex-wife Meg Matthews and is featured in the new campaign with Stella Jones, 10, for the new ‘Cruelty Doesn’t Fly With Us. Be An Angel For Animals’ campaign. Stella is the daughter of The Clash’s Mick Jones.

Donning tutus, combat boots and cartoon wings shot by celebrity photographer Pal Hansen, they encourage people to report those who abuse animals.

Anais said, “We all know it's wrong to abuse animals, but it takes courage to speak up when we see an animal in trouble. If you suspect that somebody's hurting an animal, be brave - tell your parents, a teacher, PETA or a police officer. You could save that animal's life.”

Noel Gallagher slags off One Direction, Paloma Faith and Emeli Sandé

Noel Gallagher has criticised BRIT Award stars One Direction, Paloma Faith and Emeli Sandé.

The outspoken guitarist and singer attended this year's awards ceremony in February but it seems it was a bit too dull for his liking.

Speaking to Shortlist, Gallagher recounted how he and former Britpop rival Damon Albarn sat together, got drunk and shouted at One Direction whilst they were on stage.

Going one further, the former Oasis man said that whilst they may be "nice" people, the 'Kiss You' stars' music and X Factor allegiance irks him. He said:

"One Direction, prancing up and down singing a Blondie song and getting an award for it. Nice lads though they might be, f**k off. Which is exactly what we told them. It's turning into the grand finale of the X Factor, which is exactly what Simon Cowell wants."

Referring to the BRITs itself, Gallagher added: "I think the BRITs has now reached a tipping point. Something needs to be done. It's a s**t thing for a middle-aged man to say - 'Well, it's not as good as it was in my day' - but, you know, I'm still switched on enough to think, 'It was better'. You look at the best now. Paloma Faith? Do me a favour. Who's f***ing decided she's a star? Emeli Sandé? That is f***ing music for grannies. I don't get it."

Noel Gallagher slams bands for pulling out of charity gigs: 'I should just play the f**king shows myself'

Former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher has revealed that most of the acts he approached to perform at this year's Teenage Cancer Trust gigs pulled out at the last minute.

Speaking to Britain's ShortList magazine, the star explained that he has curated a series of seven consecutive shows at the Royal Albert Hall for the charity, but was shocked when musicians agreed to perform to his face then had their PRs call to cancel later on:

"I'd talk to Ed Sheeran and Mumford and Sons thinking, 'I'll just do the f**king seven nights myself, what the f**k am I asking these people for?' and I got turned down a lot."

"Everybody says yes to your face. Everybody. And then the agent will call, and their management will call and then their PR will call and say, 'Ah, they're going to be in Australia at the time.' Really? Well, they never said that to me."

Of the concerts, which will take place between March 19-25, Gallagher added that he hopes the acts that turned him down this year will make up for it in 2014 because some of them were fantastic: "What's interesting is all the working class bands said yes straight off the bat, no f**king inkling of when it was. The middle class bands said yes and wriggled out of it... if the people that blew me off but said they'll do it next year actually do it, it might be the greatest event since Woodstock."

Outspoken rocker Noel Gallagher has revealed that during this year's BRIT Awards in London he enjoyed an entertaining bonding moment with Blur star Damon Albarn that involved One Direction.

Speaking to Time Out Dubai about the amusing incident, he explained that he spent time with the 'Song 2' singer as they sat at the same table and got on because they shared the same opinion on the UK boyband:

"We were both invited by War Child (this year) so we were sat on the same table. And it turns out, after all these years, that we're both actually really genial fellas. We got absolutely (drunk) and told One Direction to (go away) in unison, that was the highlight of the night."

When asked how One Direction reacted to the face-to-face snub, Gallagher joked: "I don't know, you better ask One Direction."

Noel Gallagher has spoken out about his experience at the BRIT Awards 2013, saying that "people with hats and Blackberrys under the age of 30 should be shot".

The Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds star was at the ceremony alongside Blur frontman and former rival Damon Albarn to present the charity War Child with an award. However, the former Oasis guitarist was unimpressed with the night, slamming it as "very corporate" during an interview with Time Out Dubai.

He said: "There are no characters left in the music business. When we first started going there was a healthy percentage of people, and we were all dirt-kickers from council estates, and we all couldn’t believe our luck that we were at the Brits. You go in now and everybody is a careerist. It’s very corporate, and you know what I’ve actually seen people doing at the Brits? Eating."

He added: "There seemed to be a lot of young people in hats, with iPhones. They’re either all involved in some massive video game that they’re all hooked up to, or they’re just texting each other saying, ‘Where are you, what are you doing?’

"And they’ve all got hats. Where did the hat come from? We’re going back to some Dickensian nightmare. I don’t understand it. People with hats and Blackberrys under the age of 30 should be shot. Or stoned to death."

Noel Gallagher and Robbie Williams make Top 10 'Funny Brits' list

Oasis hitmaker Noel Gallagher and singer Robbie Williams have been named some of Britain's wittiest stars.

The poll was carried out to mark the start of TV channel Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival and 2,000 people were asked to choose from a list of 25 celebrities, which excluded professional comedians.

'Don't Look Back In Anger' musician Gallagher came in seventh and 'Candy' sensation Williams placed just before him at No.6.

Steve North, Dave's general manager, said of the list: "Britain is a hotbed of comedy talent and it's clear you don't have to be on the comedy payroll to get the nation laughing, as our top ten of Britain's greatest living wits encompasses celebrities from diverse fields including the worlds of sport, music, film and politics."

The quote chosen to represent Robbie Williams was: "Madonna looked amazing. I can't believe she's 89 and looks like that."

Gallagher's, meanwhile, was in reference to footballer Wayne Rooney: "I'm not having it, He looks like a f**king balloon with a f**king Weetabix crushed on top."

Noel Gallagher hints at Oasis reunion

Noel Gallagher has not ruled out the possibility that Oasis could reform as a band.

The High Flying Birds front man said he understood why fans remained hopeful, since Oasis were such a “huge thing.”

He told the Evening Standard: “I can understand the man in the street thinking, ‘that was such a huge thing, how can you walk away from it?’ When the Sex Pistols reformed I thought it was the greatest thing of all time.”

However, Gallagher, 45, did say a second life for Oasis was not necessarily “on the cards” any time soon since he recently met up with the other former band members and none of them mentioned it.

He added: “If the Stone Roses can do it, then anyone can do it. You can never predict what you’ll be doing in 20 years’ time, but I guess if everyone remains vaguely slim and has not gone bald, then it’s on the cards. Forever.”

Gallagher is curating the Teenage Cancer Trust's set of gigs next year.

The shows will bring together some of the biggest bands and comedians to entertain audiences at The Royal Albert Hall, in London raising money for young cancer sufferers.

Gallagher is due to play a headline show with Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon of Blur.

The pair have had a notoriously rocky relationship over the years and speaking to BBC 6 Music earlier today (November 14), Noel joked that Liam's vocals ruin the music his band makes:

"The thing with Beady Eye is...their singer does them a great disservice."

"I think they caught a lot of flak that was quite undeserved, really. It's only their first album. I think they've got a great album in them next time. They need one. They fucking need one, that's for sure."

Noel Gallagher's brush with a typhoon: 'The plane home was a bumpy ride'

High Flying Birds star Noel Gallagher has revealed that he faced flying through a typhoon while recently leaving Taiwan.

In a blog post, Gallagher explained that both he and his band narrowly avoided being stuck on the South China Sea island state by making a rather dicey decision to fly home despite the fact that a tropical storm was brewing:

"We left town the next afternoon, just before a typhoon arrived. There'd been a warning the day before. It was a bit touch and go whether the plane was gonna be able to take off. I'm not sure what's worse in those situations... spending another night in a hotel or trying to fly home through the front end of a typhoon?"

"The locals didn't seem to be too bothered, so off we went. It was a fairly bumpy ride I have to say, but we arrived home safe and sound. Which is more than could be said for our bags what didn't arrive home until 2 days later."

The musician added that the gig he played in Taipei was great, but there was a small crowd disturbance that bothered him: "Very enthusiastic crowd spoiled only by the obligatory fat English idiot relentlessly shouting out random song titles."

Noel Gallagher: 'I read interviews with Liam when he slags me off in them'

High Flying Birds musician Noel Gallagher has admitted that he's more inclined to buy music magazines when his brother is on the front cover as he knows the accompanying interview will be an entertaining read.

Speaking to the NME, on which he graces the cover of this week's 60th anniversary edition, Noel explained that he's used to Liam speaking badly of him in professional situations so if he notices his brother on a front page he'll buy a copy of the publication just to see what he said:

"I buy NME when Liam's on the front – 'cos I know he'll be slagging me off. There was one point when Beady Eye was out, but I wasn’t doing anything, and Liam was on the cover of NME every few weeks, basically saying, 'Noel's a c**t.'"

He continued: "I'd go into the newspaper shop and me two Asian mates, they'd be reading it under counter. 'You come for this?' I'd see them wincing: 'It's not a good one…' 'I know.' 'I don’t think he likes you very much.' 'Yeah, I don't think he likes anyone very much.'"

Noel Gallagher: Russell Brand murdered The Beatles at Olympics closing ceremony

Noel Gallagher has joked that Russell Brand murdered The Beatles during his performance at the Olympics’ closing ceremony.

The former Oasis guitarist, whose song 'Wonderwall' was covered by Beady Eye at the same event, told Q magazine that he wasn’t exactly impressed with his comedian friend’s rendition of 'I Am The Walrus.'

“I sent him a message straight after the Olympics, saying words to the effect of, 'After two weeks of glory, to have left it to a f***ing junkie in a top hat murdering The Beatles to round off what was a brilliant celebration of Great Britain…'

“He’s on tour at the minute and he plays that message to the crowd every night. Then he calls me on my answering machine – it’s become part of his act.”

The 45-year-old, who regularly appeared as a guest on Russell Brand’s Radio 2 show, then taunted the star about his relationship with Geri Halliwell:

“I don’t answer the phone, because I know what he’s fucking doing. So I get these messages every morning. The people of Weston-Super-Mare are in hysterics, with him saying, “Murdering The Beatles? At least I didn’t dig’ em up and base my career on ‘em.”

“But you know at least I’m not shagging Geri Halliwell. I mean f***ing hell, out of all the Spice Girls – not Ginger.”

Noel Gallagher says he doesn't miss Oasis at all

Outspoken musician Noel Gallagher has admitted that he's happy working on his new project and doesn't actually miss being a part of Oasis at all.

During an interview with NME, he explained that the time had simply come to leave Oasis behind and he's enjoying the material he's creating with his High Flying Birds:

"No, I don't say that in a callous way. I don't think about it too much. If it was great I wouldn't have left, if it was all sh*ts and giggles then I'd wouldn't be doing this. I don't miss it, I enjoy what I do now."

Referring specifically to the difference between the two groups, he revealed that his new band is "harder work" and more of a mental challenge:

"This is a lot harder work than Oasis was, this is very hard on the brain, Oasis was hard on the soul. This is hard, you've got to be on it every night. When I was in Oasis, I'd shuffle on hungover, having been up late, by the time we got to my bits in the set I'd be very warmed up, but now I've got to be on it from the start."

Gallagher also spoke about his solo tour, adding that he didn't expect it to be so popular with fans: "I'm on the road till November. The record blew up on the road and I don't know if it'll happen like this again."

"We've just kept adding gigs and gigs. My second album has fallen by the wayside because we've just kept adding gigs."

Noel Gallagher says rock stars will become extinct

Noel Gallagher has claimed that rock stars will become extinct because of the lack of money in the music industry.

The former Oasis guitarist, who recently admitted he’d still be a roadie if his career hadn’t worked out, told the Sunday Express that he’s shocked at just how quickly the music business has changed over the last ten years:

“Rock stardom will die because nobody will make enough money any more to be rock stars. Everybody will be jobbing musicians. It’s unbelievable. The music industry has changed beyond all recognition. The music business we signed in to does not exist any more.

“What is fascinating about that is that there was a way of making money and selling records that got happened upon in the Sixties and it worked for 30-odd years then all of a sudden, in under a decade, it’s gone, never to return.

“It used to be about the A&R man going to see gigs, demos and people going into record labels saying ‘give us a chance’ and it’s not like that any more.”

The 45-year-old also revealed that he now feels detached from his audience because of the fortune he’s amassed during his career:

“You can’t be a hypocrite and write songs about the plight of the working man when you are sipping champagne at eight in the morning in the South of France with a supermodel.”
