Nathan Sykes reveals why he decided to pursue a solo career

'Kiss Me Quick' hitmaker Nathan Sykes, formerly of The Wanted fame, has opened up about going solo and revealed that it was a natural progression for him.

Speaking to Extra about his decision to pursue a solo career, the heartthrob admitted that he simply wasn't ready to bow out of music because he's truly passionate about it:

"I wanted something to do. We all decided to take a break to all do our own individual things. I wasn't even 22 at the time... no, I wasn't even 21 at the time! God, it feels like forever ago. I was like, 'I'm far too young to stop doing what I love doing'. I decided to make an album and started writing it and the label were like, 'this is really good'."

"It happened so naturally. You don't have to think about four other voices so you're not writing for other people as such, you're writing what you want. It's kind of soulful pop... yeah. It's taking influences from all the music I listened to throughout my childhood and trying to make it commercial."
