Nathan Sykes on writing his solo album: 'I learned how to go deeper'

'Kiss Me Quick' heartthrob Nathan Sykes has revealed that he learned a lot about both music and being a solo artist while working on his debut album earlier this year.

During a new interview with Fiasco magazine, the star opened up about his forthcoming solo album and admitted that the experience was incredible because he got to write with Babyface and Diane Warren:

“Not only did I have an amazing time collaborating with these artists, I learnt so much from them…"

He continued: "For a songwriter, it was the most amazing lesson because it really makes you go deeper into the lyrics of an already deep song…It was a very emotional session."

Speaking to the Daily Record in Scotland earlier this month, Sykes admitted that the best thing about leaving his boyband The Wanted behind is the creative control he now has: “I don’t have to go through so many people. They just say ‘Nathan would you like to do this?’ and the decisions are made quicker. Even with band videos, some of us had ideas and would look at treatments over and over again whereas I wrote the video treatment on the same day I wrote my song.”
