Nathan Sykes teases debut solo album: 'It's definitely a pop record'

'Over and Over Again' hitmaker Nathan Sykes has almost finished working on his highly anticipated first solo album and he has confirmed that it fits well within the pop genre.

Chatting to Fuse TV about his forthcoming solo record, the heartthrob admitted that he can't wait to release it and would definitely classify it as a pop album: "It’s definitely a pop album, I love pop music, but there’s a lot of different elements I’ve put into it that makes it my sound."

"There’s a lot of personal stories that I never thought I’d tell people. I never thought I’d be able to pour my heart out so much, but day after day I was surprising myself. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ll tell what you the tricky bit is: trying to not make it obvious who the songs are about.”

As previously reported, Sykes told Billboard that he has actually finished the album twice, but keeps going back to perfect and tweak things on it

"The album's been finished twice, and then unfinished. The first time I finished, it was the label really thinking it was finished, and I was like, 'No, not yet. I need to go back to L.A. to write a couple of songs'. Then I decided (at the) top of the year that I wanted to write a couple more songs, because I've grown up a lot since I started writing the album."
