Nathan Sykes jokes that hopefully The Wanted's feuds with 1D won't affect his solo career

Musician Nathan Sykes has revealed that getting people to listen to his solo material is down to the way he promotes it.

Chatting to Zach Sang & the Gang recently, the star was asked if he's concerned that people might associate him with The Wanted and that if they weren't fans of that boyband originally they won't be willing to give his own music a shot.

He explained that he feels responsible for getting his music its own exposure, but he hopes that The Wanted's ongoing feuds with the likes of One Direction won't affect the potential audience he can reach because he was never really part of that.

"I think that's down to me. There's a lot of people who won't want to. It's about me making them and me getting in front of them, and forcing them to give me (a chance). Not like putting their ear to a speaker forcefully... I think after... especially after the stuff with One Direction went down and then there was stuff with other artists that went down. I don't want to push people under the bus and say I was never part of it, but I was never part of it."

Earlier today (September 29), the heartthrob took to his official Twitter page and confirmed that his next single, entitled "Famous", will be released in the UK at midnight: "Famous is the next single in the UK ... Goes live at midnight worldwide!!"

He is set to unveil his debut solo album, Unfinished Business, on November 4 and you can read more about the record here
