Nick Jonas: 'Going from a child star to serious artist is very different for men and women'

Singer and actor Nick Jonas has opened up about transitioning from being a child star to a serious artist and confessed that he strongly believes it's very different for men and women.

The hitmaker grew up as part of the Jonas Brothers and starred in Disney's 'Camp Rock' original movies, but recently launched a solo career with a much more mature edge. Speaking to E! News about making such a significant change, he said:

"I think it is very different for men and women. And I can only speak for my journey, because it's the only one I know very well. I think the challenge that I faced was in just giving people a reason to give me a second look."

When asked about his new status as sex symbol, the star explained that it's dangerous to get too hung up on that kind of thing although he's grateful that his raunchy Flaunt shoot was so well received as he ended up having his 'biggest sales week' when his single 'Jealous' came out shortly after:

"I think I tread those waters carefully. After doing a few hits that were that, I said, 'Okay, let's shut down that side of it for a little while and put the focus on other areas.' And if the argument is that there's too much focus on that, well I say the week that the Flaunt shoot came out, 'Jealous' shot up the iTunes chart, and that was our biggest sales week so far. There are things that are driving people to the music and the TV show, and you've got to be thankful for that."
