Jay Z stopped Nick Jonas from calling his new album 'Unhinged'

Nick Jonas has revealed that he wanted to call his new album 'Unhinged' but Jay Z wasn't convinced about the name.

Speaking to Carson Daly on CBS 97.1 AMP, Jonas said he formed a friendship with Beyoncé's husband after the rapper became partners with his manager, Phil McIntrye.

'I had a title picked out... ‘Unhinged’... (Jay Z) said, ‘Now that I've got to know you better, I don’t feel like it quite sums up the story you’re telling. Let’s just talk about this year of your life. What’s it been like?’

"And I said, ‘Last year was complicated.’ He was like, ‘That’s the title!’”

Jonas then explained how he got to know Jay Z, he said: 'Last year I did a mid America festival in Philly. I already knew the deal between Philly Mac and Roc Nation was going to happen but had the chance to meet the Jay Z and the team, and he said 'Today we're going to spend the day together' after my set. He watched my show... we hung all day and talked about music, life, and next steps.

"Since then he's been super hands-on, a partner, a friend, a mentor. I'm thankful for it.

"It's definitely helpful to have someone like that in your corner.'

Nick Jonas' album, 'Life Is Complicated,' is set to be released on June 10.

The lead single, 'Close' feat. Tove Lo was released on March 25.
