OFFICIAL CHARTS: Fifth Harmony’s Work From Home hits Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart

Fifth Harmony’s Work From Home hits Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart

Fifth Harmony's working from home is clearly paying off, as they claim Number 1 on this week's all-new Official Trending Chart.

The girl group's latest effort Work From Home - taken from their upcoming album 7/27 - tops the list of tracks making an impact in the UK this week. The song is on course to make a sizeable leap on the Official Singles Chart this Friday (March 18), and looks set to become their second UK Top 10 single following Worth It last summer.

Work From Home's ascent up the Top 100 has been a fast one. The track entered the Official Singles Chart at Number 23 following its On Air, On Sale two weeks ago, and rose to 11 the following week. Check out where all of Fifth Harmony's singles have charted in the UK here.

Ariana Grande makes a big new entry on this week's Trending Chart. Her new single Dangerous Woman - released last Friday (March 11) - is looking good to land inside the Official Singles Chart Top 20 this week.

Another song making waves in the UK this week is DNCE's Cake By The Ocean. The Joe Jonas-fronted band are on track to enter this week's UK Top 40 with their debut single, a month after it first hit the Top 100.

Elsewhere, James Bay's new single Best Fake Smile and Shawn Mendes' I Know What You Did Last Summer (which features Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello) land inside this week's Trending Top 20, with both songs set to enter the Top 75 on the Official Singles Chart this week.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart  is a brand new chart launched for 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch last month has already highlighted emerging hits such as Zara Larrsson’s Lush Life and Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza, both tracks went on to become Top 5 smashes in the Official Singles Chart.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).

Chart information quoted from this release must be credited to the Official Charts Company, online outlets please link to www.officialcharts.com

Under its full formula, the chart will:

  • Rank all tracks which are climbing the Official Singles Chart since the previous week’s chart, ranking the tracks in order of sales / audio streams (100 streams being equivalent to 1 sale).
  • Be based on data collected for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and published on Tuesday, three days before the main Official Singles Chart is unveiled on a Friday.
  • Limit each artist to just two tracks each – to prevent the chart from being dominated by multiple tracks from a brand new superstar artist’s album.
  • Only count “new” tracks – in other words, tracks which have never been Top 10, which have been released within the past 24 months, and have 52 chart weeks or fewer to their name.
