The five piece - also comprising Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson - are currently on their Take Me Home world tour, and played in Berlin last night (May 11).

Payne took to Twitter after the show to share his disbelief at how fast the tour dates are whizzing by.

He posted: "Cant believe the europe part of tours nearly half way throughhh ! Loved germany tonighttt :) (sic)."

Meanwhile Horan thanked the group's fans for their support.

"Berlin! Amazing show tonight! amazing crowd and amazing arena! Thank you soo much ! Love comin back to Germany! (sic)."

The Irish hunk also shared a particularly funny story with his millions of followers, explaining his braces are still causing him problems.

He wrote: "People at the last hotel ! Put my retainer on warm water now I just have a ball of plastic! Hahahah (sic)."

Horan took to Twitter after the show to admit he spied on fans ahead of the concert.  

He wrote: "I was watching you guys before the show arriving into the arena , in the least stalkerish way… (sic)," with an accompanying picture which looks like it has been taken from the back of the stage showing the crowds gathering.

Horan also thanked fans for their continued support ahead of the show: "Really excited for the show tonight! Copenhagen is buzzing out there already! Can hear u guys from here (sic)."

Bandmate Styles also used Twitter after the sold-out gig to show his appreciation to One Direction's faithful fans: "Sweden, you were amazing. And it's been a while, good to be back. Thanks for having us .x (sic)."

One Direction teased fans earlier this week by unveiling a countdown clock with an end date of May 16, 2013.

While the lads are yet to unveil any more information about the surprise that's in store for fans around the globe, they have called the project 'One Big Announcement' and a message on their collective Twitter account tells followers to set alarms for the big reveal:

"You could also set your alarms on your phones as an extra precaution... #OneBigAnnouncement7DaysToGo."

One Direction are well known for their love of British food and drink whilst away on tour and Irishman Horan is much the same.

The singer revealed today (May 10) that he was sent a batch of Twinings tea in the post.

On closer inspection, however, the boxes are printed with the caption 'Niall Horan & One Direction'.

The blurb on the box also appears to read: "Naturally caffeine free...that's what makes you beautiful!"

Speaking about the custom made tea, the 'Kiss You' star said: "Thanks very much @TwiningsTeaUK! love the ole lemon and ginger tea! Love the boxes aswell haha."

The 71-year-old Scot revealed on Wednesday (May 8) that he will retire from managing in the summer after nearly 27 years at Man Utd.

Ferguson won 26 trophies during his time at the club and is recognised as one of football's greatest ever managers.

Speaking on Twitter, Tomlinson - who owns an amateur football team - paid tribute to the man by saying:

"Sad news that Sir Alex has retired. What an amazing man for football!"

The 'Kiss You' singer wasn't the only music star tweeting about Ferguson, with Ronan Keating saying: "What a career. What a legend. Sir Alex will be missed. Not just from United but from football. Thank you for the memories."

Man Utd fan Olly Murs meanwhile said: "Sir Alex.. Is the BEST there is, The Best there was and the Best there EVER will be..."

Ferguson's replacement meanwhile is due to be named imminently, with Everton's David Moyes thought to be lined up.

The boyband are currently on their European Take Me Home tour and they have been playing to packed audiences at every concert.

It seems everything is going exceedingly well for Payne, who gushed on Twitter to fans last night (May 7):

"Ill be doing alooottttt of following tomorrow, love you guys thank you for everythinggg !Im having the best time of my life :)."

The statement comes, however, after a spokesperson confirmed reports that he had split from dancer girlfriend Danielle Peazer.

Payne's not the only one feeling grateful at the moment, with Niall Horan recently tweeting: "I f'in love my job so much."

The group performed a concert in Norway this evening (May 7) and Horan already expressed his shock at the size of the venue, but returned to the social networking site to tell his fans how overwhelmed he is at the experiences he's had so far:

"That was an incredible show! The arena was amazing! Norwegian crowd was on top form tonight! Love u ! Cya soon Norway. Playin arenas that big makes me think! "I f'in love my job so much"

Member Harry Styles joined in with the thankful comments and shared a photo (shown below), adding: "Oslo was amazing.. Thanks for having us. One of my favourite places in the world."

Speaking to Q Music radio, the 'What Makes You Beautiful' singer addressed recent reports that suggest the lads might go their separate ways after their 'Take Me Home' world tour and said that it's not even something they have thought about:

"We are definitely not going anywhere. We have our diaries set out for this year and most of next year, so we're not going anywhere yet."

The band will perform a concert in Norway later this evening (May 7) and Horan took to his official Twitter page earlier today to tell his fans that he was overwhelmed at the size of the venue: "This arena is mahooosive! It's like a football stadium! 8,000 on the floor alone! Can't wait Norway! Lets make it loud"

The 'Live While We're Young' lads are due to play the Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway tonight (May 7) and Liam Payne took to Twitter to set down some ground rules.

He wants their fans to pay tribute to their fun 'Kiss You' video by wearing goggles to the concert. The singer said:

"Hi everyone for tomorrow's gig everyone has to wear ski goggles in kiss you so make sure to bring them with youuuuuu #NorwaySkiDay1D."

The request follows a similar ask to fans in Holland to wear the colour orange when they performed in Amsterdam.

The quintet got in on the action too as they wore purely orange clothes.

The heartthrob went back to Holmes Chapel in Cheshire to spend a few hours working at the bakery while film crews recorded footage for the group's biographical film, which is being directed by 'Super Size Me' star Morgan Spurlock.

Styles's old boss, Simon Wakefield, explained that he was always a fantastic member of staff: "He was the most polite member of staff we’ve ever had. Customers really took a shine to him."

Back in 2010, when Styles was taking part in 'The X Factor', Wakefield told reporters that he would welcome the youngster back if he wasn't successful on the show: "He’s welcome back any time but I highly doubt he’ll be back to work. I think his career is sorted. He is a great lad and was really popular with the customers when he used to work on counter."

The 'Little Things' hitmaker used to earn just £6 per hour at the W Mandeville bakery, but back in April One Direction were named Britain's wealthiest boyband with an estimated collective fortune of £25 million.

Reports emanated over the weekend that the British singer had ended his relationship with dancer Danielle Peazer.

The Daily Mail reports that a rep for the band has now backed up the stories, saying: "Liam and Danielle have split. It is all very amicable and the pair remain friends."

The initial reports suggested that Payne's hectic schedule was a big part of the duo's decision.

The pair seemingly also split last year, but they soon resumed their relationship again and got a puppy called Loki together.

The British pop group have legions of dedicated fans who bring self-made signs and banners to their gigs.

However, it seems one in particular caught the band's eyes recently on their Take Me Home tour.

In a photo posted on Instagram, singer Harry Styles was seen holding a sign that said "Get a proper job you d*cks". He said:

"Possibly the best sign at a show ever."

It seems the sign was a reference to a quip made by singer Liam Payne on Twitter that slagged off the paparazzi.

The Irish charmer added: "im 1000 percent sure we have the best fans in the world...the lengths you go to for us is incredible..we love u soo much ...no lies or poo (sic)."

Styles was also overwhelmed with the effort from One Direction's loyal fanbase.

He wrote: "Amsterdam... You were incredible. Thank you so much for having us!! You turned Orange. So did we (sic)," with an accompanying picture of the crowd taken from the stage.

Payne also thanked the band's followers after writing earlier in the day: "Happy orange day people of Amsterdam can't wait to see the crowd tonight see who got the memo aha (sic)."

Just a few days ago, member Harry Styles was surrounded by a swarm of excited girls when trying to exit his Parisian hotel and it appears the attention has followed the 'Little Things' group to the Netherlands (shown below) as they were encircled by followers while trying to buy clothes.

Meanwhile, the lads recently informed their fans that there would be a "strict dress code" of orange at tonight's show and pictures have been starting to surface on Twitter of the Ziggo arena that show concert goers wearing orange accents.

Singer Liam Payne, shown below with security guards, revealed his excitement ahead of this evening's gig and confessed that he was hopeful about the colour-specific dress code, tweeting: "Happy orange day people of Amsterdam can't wait to see the crowd tonight see who got the memo aha."

As previously reported, the boyband took to their Twitter accounts to ask everyone due to attend tonight's gig in Amsterdam to wear the colour orange.

The lads have been getting into the spirit of things, with Harry Styles tweeting a photo of orange clothes and the caption: "The show tonight will look niiiice and orange."

Niall Horan meanwhile said: "The most important thing u guys need t do between now and the show is dress up in orange! #turnziggoorange lets do it!"

Liam Payne added: "Happy orange day people of Amsterdam can't wait to see the crowd tonight see who got the memo aha."

Tonight's Take Me Home Tour gig will take place at the Ziggo Arena.
