A rep for One Direction has dismissed suggestion that Harry Styles wore a rabbit fur hat.

The singer was recently snapped wearing an extravagant hat that looked similar to a $1,000 Saint Laurent piece that is made out of fur.

This prompted a vociferous response on Twitter, with some One Direction fans lambasting the 19-year-old star for apparently wearing the cruel hat.

One user said: "I can't believe he bought a hat made out of RABBIT. Harry Styles is a f**king savage. Fame changed him."

However, a rep for the singer has since denied the speculation, stating:

"The hat is not from Saint Laurent and it's not rabbit fur. He got it from a hat shop in LA."
