Liam Payne's sister says singer "needs a break" after Twitter outburst

The sister of One Direction's Liam Payne has admitted that she thinks the singer "needs a break" from the limelight.

The singer recently hit out at the press on Twitter after showing his admiration for Willie Robertson of US TV show Duck Dynasty fame - despite his father previously making homophobic remarks in an interview.

He also was forced to apologise to fans after being pictured standing on a rooftop ledge.

Speaking on Twitter, the singer's sister Ruth admitted that Liam could do with some time off. Referring to the Duck Dynasty tweets, she said:

"My brother tweeted he respected family values not that he supports them. I hope he has a long time away from twitter now and enjoys his time off without being judged. At the moment he just needs a break."

Payne's Twitter rant meanwhile concluded with the tweet: “Pick ur balls up off the floor and get on with it instead of taking advantage of every word said and twisting it for your own gain."
