One Direction make big announcement about their next single

Earlier this evening (January 24), the heartthrobs of One Direction delighted their fans around the globe by confirming that 'Midnight Memories' will be their next single release.

Member Niall Horan took to his official Twitter page tonight and told his followers that fellow bandmate Liam Payne had some big news for them: "Here is the Payno with some BIG news for you all!"

In the clip, Payne explains: "Our next single is going to be 'Midnight Memories', which is actually one of the songs that I wrote with Louis (Tomlinson). So this is the first song we wrote on the album, so it paved the way for this whole album's sound. It's a big, big tune and it's all about the midnight memories - everybody's got them - hope you enjoy it."

'Midnight Memories' is the title track from the boyband's latest album and the song has been likened to Def Leppard's 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' because of the obvious similarities it boasts. Earlier this month, Def Leppard's drummer, Rick Allen, explained that the likeness is just a great compliment:

"I see the similarity, but those three chords have been used for decades. It's not new. And if anything, we felt as though it was a huge compliment. It's nice that their fans can see where they may have been influenced. There's no point in taking any legal action. If we were to take action against them, I'm sure there would be a hundred other bands who would take action against us."
