One Direction heartthrob, Niall Horan, took to his official Twitter page last night (February 4) and hosted a brief impromptu question and answer session. 

He told his 17.1 million followers that he couldn't sleep because he was "too excited" about the band's upcoming tour and answered a series of questions sent in about his personal life.

During the evening, the 'Story Of My Life' superstar confessed that he's always wanted a dog, but can't really have one because of his schedule: "I was gona get a puggle ( pug and a beagle) but I wouldn't be able to bring it on tour really."

He then revealed that his family owned a pet cat, but it sadly died: "We had a cat for about 17 years and he died last year."

Horan also explained that he hopes to make the most of his down time on One Direction's next run of dates, adding: "Yeah, gonna try and get of the hotel more and use my days off! Coz a lot of the time, we're barricaded in."

Earlier this week, the hitmaker topped a list of Ireland's most influential teenagers organised by Irish Central. A spokesperson for Irish Central said: "Horan is the only One Direction member who was born outside England and he is the second youngest member of the band. He claims to be inspired by classic swing music and by the vocalist Michael Bublé."
