Niall Horan offered chance to fight rugby's Mike Phillips in charity boxing match

One Direction star Niall Horan has been given the chance to fight Twitter adversary Mike Phillips in a charity boxing match.

As previously reported, the singer criticised the Welsh rugby player at the weekend on Twitter after he got involved in a scrap with some Irish opponents during a Six Nations match.

Insult-laced banter soon followed before Ireland's Rob Kearney stepped in to proclaim that he has Horan's back.

Bookmaker Paddy Power have now offered Horan and Phillips the chance to settle their differences in the boxing ring, pledging that €50,000 will go to a charity of the winner's choice.

$10,000 would go to the loser whilst Kearney has been offered the same amount to referee the bout.

Paddy Power's Feilim MacAnIomaire told the Irish Mirror: "This is absolutely a real offer to the both of them – why the hell not? It would be craic. We would like them to both jump on board, but who knows if they will be able to find the time. They have both got very busy schedules. But I am pretty sure how we would price it. It would be very, very long odds on poor Niall Horan. But whether or not he would be brave enough to step into the ring with Mike Phillips – even if it is for charity – he would be a bigger man than me.”
