One Direction's Twitter rules: "Tweet as if your grandma is going to read it"

They each have millions of followers and now One Direction have revealed their rules when using Twitter.

Harry Styles – who has 19.5 million followers – suggests not oversharing on the social media site.

Harry advised We Love Pop magazine: “You just have to be aware and not share too much. Tweet as if your grandma is going to read it!”

Niall Horan – who has 17.3 million followers – follows a similar rule as he stated: “That's it. I once heard: 'Don't tweet anything that you wouldn't stand on a chair and say to your mother.'”

One Direction’s Twitter presence helped them to win the BRIT Award for Best Video earlier this week as the band took home the prize with the winner decided via a social media voting system.

‘Best Song Ever’ was named video of the year by the BRITs first ever use of a Twitter vote.

Despite One Direction’s success at the BRIT Awards earlier this week, where the band also won the Global Success accolade, Harry Styles has had to speak out about false rumours of the group splitting up.
