Louis Tomlinson realises "boyhood dream" after playing for Doncaster Rovers

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has expressed his pride after turning out for Doncaster Rovers' reserves side.

The singer signed a non-contract deal with Rovers last night in an effort to raise money for children's hospice Bluebell Wood.

He made his competitive debut for his local side's reserves team last night (February 26) at the Keepmoat Stadium against Rotherham Reserves.

Tomlinson came on as a 65th minute substitute and slotted in a right-back, but the game ended 0-0.

Over five thousand fans turned out to see their idol and speaking to the Doncaster Rovers website, the One Direction man said that he achieved a "dream" by playing.

He said: "It’s absolutely amazing, those boys get to do that every week and it really is such an honour to be involved in a club, where I spent most of my child hood going down to the games. Just pulling on the shirt is just a boyhood dream.

"I think its really important that when we are lucky enough to be in the position that we are in, to use that for the greater good. It is really important to spread the word about Bluebell Wood because they are such a great great charity. To get an insight into the football world has been fascinating and to be invited into that is such an honour. I have really enjoyed it and I can’t thank the people enough at Doncaster Rovers for having me."
