One Direction have congratulated 5 Seconds of Summer on landing their first ever UK No.1 single.

The Australian group recently released their debut UK single 'She Looks So Perfect' and it reached the top spot on Sunday (March 30).

They have supported One Direction in the past - and are set to do so again this year - so the quartet have a close bond with the British-Irish lads.

Two members of One Direction posted on Twitter to congratulate 5 Seconds of Summer, with Harry Styles tweeting:

"Congratulations to @5SOS on the big news today. Well done boys. Shrimp on Barbie."

Niall Horan added: "Yessssss! soo happy for the lads @5sos , officially #1 with "SLSP" ! Can't believe it!"

One Direction, however, haven't hit No.1 on the UK singles chart since 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' did so back in February 2013.

Their last single - 'Midnight Memories' - only reached No.39.
