Bookie stops taking money on One Direction split after flurry of bets

A bookmaker has suspended betting on One Direction splitting up after receiving a slew of bets.

The group, who have released three albums since forming in 2010, are regularly the subject of rumours about their future.

Betting company Coral had been taking bets on the band splitting up, with one-time odds of 3/1.

However, they have now suspended it after receiving a wave of bets. Coral’s Nicola McGeady said: “A flurry of shrewd bets on One Direction splitting up raised the alarm and forced us to close betting until further notice."

Coral are still taking bets on Harry Styles leaving the group first (4/1) and the prospect of any member releasing solo material this year (5/1).

One Direction, however, are due to head out on their worldwide Where We Are stadium tour this year.
