One Direction fans told they could be turned away from Sunderland gig

Young One Direction fans could miss out on seeing the band live in Sunderland even if they have a ticket.

The band are due to open the UK leg of their Where We Are world tour on May 28 at Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

However, the venue have reminded fans that anyone under the age of 12 cannot enter the standing area.

They must instead have tickets to the seated area as a result of their strict safety policy.

In addition, anyone under the age of 16 must be with a responsible adult.

One Direction are due to perform a number of shows in the UK on their Where We Are stadium tour, with other dates set for cities like Edinburgh, Manchester and London.

The first show on the run meanwhile is set to take place in Colombia on April 25.
