One Direction superstar Liam Payne has worried fans by posting a series of tweets that suggest he is currently upset and missing someone. 

Writing on his official Twitter page this afternoon (May 2), the heartthrob shared a series of messages that appear to hint at a possible break-up: "Can't be without you. Worse (sic) thing I ever did was let you go. Now all I got left is the thought of you." 

Following his public declaration of sadness, the hashtag '#CheerUpLiam' has shot into the top 10 worldwide trending topics list on the social networking site, with followers of One Direction sending him well-wishes and virtual hugs. 

The 'Story Of My Life' sensations are on tour in South America at the moment and will perform at the Velez Sarsfield in Buenos Aires, Argentina tomorrow night. Payne shared his thoughts on touring with his fans recently and confessed that he feels as though his main job is to be a traveller and everything else is secondary:

"My real job is explorer all the rest of the stuff just part-time keeping busy."
