One Direction urge fans to be safe: 'Listen to the police'

Earlier today (May 4), One Direction heartthrob Niall Horan urged fans to be careful when they're watching them live or trying to catch a glimpse of the members at their hotels because they don't want anyone to get hurt.

Writing on his official Twitter page this morning, the star explained that it's vital that followers pay attention to security and police, and crucial for their own safety: "Please be safe today guys! We don't want anyone getting hurt on the streets! Please just listen to the police or security!"

The lads are currently on tour in South America and 'Story Of My Life' sensation Harry Styles tweeted a message to tell his followers how much he enjoyed the most recent show: "Argentina thank you so much. You were incredible. Very sweaty. But incredible."

During a recent concert in Peru, around 47 gig goers were treated by medical staff because they couldn't breathe properly. The head of Peru's volunteer fire service, Mario Cassareto, told press: "We treated 47 children with the first stages of asphyxia. Everything is under control. We have nothing to be ashamed of, we've handled the situation well. We put in place a second evacuation plan so that the younger fans were not affected."

"We're working with the police and the security companies [who were contracted for the show], 911 and VIP. It's under control. We are still treating those with symptoms of asphyxia that we pulled from the back. The ministry of health has set up tents."
