One Direction's Edinburgh gig breaks two attendance records

One Direction broke two records in one night at their recent Edinburgh concert.

The band played at the city's Murrayfield Stadium earlier this week as part of their Where We Are world stadium tour.

Over 64,000 people turned up and it has been confirmed that the show was the largest concert ever to have taken place at the rugby stadium.

It has also been revealed that the show was the biggest single concert to have been held in Scotland.

Scottish Rugby’s Director of Commercial Operations, Communications and Public Affairs, Dominic McKay, commented said: “It was a fantastic evening and a great way to celebrate our recent sponsorship deal, with a record-breaking crowd at the BT Murrayfield Stadium.

“We’re delighted One Direction chose to stage their only Scottish date here and it underlines the confidence in us to stage not only rugby internationals but other major events such as this, which ultimately help fund grass roots rugby. I’d like to thank DF Concerts, and all our staff and partners who worked together brilliantly to stage such a record-breaking event.”
