Louis Tomlinson hoping to bring a 'lot of success' to Doncaster Rovers

Louis Tomlinson has high hopes for Doncaster Rovers when he eventually takes over the football club.

Speculation about the singer's takeover bid has rumbled for weeks, but the Yorkshire Post say a press conference will be held today (June 19) to announce the deal.

The One Direction man is part of a group trying to buy the League One club and former chairman John Ryan will take up day-to-day responsibility of the company when the takeover goes through.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post ahead of the press conference, Ryan said that the potential new owners are hoping to inject success back into the club.

He said: "This is a new era with Louis and myself and we are very keen to bring even more success to Doncaster Rovers. We think this could be a momentous day in the history of Doncaster Rovers. It’s a daunting task [ahead]. But I have had a lot of success in the past and hope to, with the help of Louis, Gavin [Baldwin – chief executive] and [manager] Paul Dickov and the rest of the team to bring a lot of success to the club over the next few years.

"We will be more than competitive [next season]. We will be going all out to get promotion next year. We will be working with Paul Dickov as soon as possible to sort the squad. Paul has already been working hard, but now things are moving, we will be moving forward on the squad."
