One Direction are currently winning MTV's poll of the hottest acts of the summer.

The music company launched their annual Hottest poll over the weekend and the 'Live While We're Young' lads are currently trumping the competition.

At the time of writing, the British-Irish group have bagged over 11.8 million tweets in their favour.

In second place is Canadian superstar Justin Bieber, who has over 7 million votes.

Taking the bronze medal right now are 5 Seconds of Summer, whilst Lady Gaga and Demi Lovato follow in fourth and fifth place.

Other names in the mix include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Rihanna.

Voting - which takes place here - closes on August 27 before the results are announced on August 30.
