Louis Tomlinson has revealed that he used to wear makeup more when One Direction was in its infancy.

The group formed on the UK X Factor in 2010 and image was key in establishing the quintet in the mainstream.

However, singer Tomlinson told PopSugar that he doesn't wear as much makeup these days as he once did.

He said of beauty: "I would say it's less of a routine for me. I wore a lot more makeup at the start, but I don't really bother now."

The Brit was speaking at the launch of One Direction's upcoming perfume You & I.

The scent will go on sale in the UK via Boots from August 20.
